The National Capital Freenet (NCF) has gone through explosive growth since it was founded in 1992. With more than 30,000 present users, and 500 new accounts a week being created, NCF has been a large success.
However, the systems were never designed to deal with quite this many users. In order to continue growing at all, NCF is going to have to adopt of new way of utilizing the hardware and software involved.
