Licensing

A copy of the software will be delivered to Environment Canada on ISO-9660 format CDROM on March 30, 2001. This will be a beta version.

A second copy of the software will be delivered to Environment Canada on May 26, 2001, and a third copy on June 23, 2001. These will include further patches and bug fixes.

For legal purposes the contractor, Sandelman Software Works, will retain ownership of the software.

The software will be licensed to Environment Canada under the conditions listed below. These terms are known as the GNU General Public License or GPL. This license was developed by counsel for the Free Software Foundation (FSF) to address the needs of ``Open Source Software''.

The data which is collected will be disclosed under the following conditions:

  1. a site coordinator will be given access to data about their organization only.

  2. a city coordinator will be given access to data about their city only.

  3. a report listing origins/destinations by three digit postal code prefix will be made available at the conclusion of the event

  4. no other data will be revealed to any party, and the data will be taken offline at the conclusion of the event.

The data collected will remain the property of the contractor, and will not be sold, lent, or hired out. The city coordinators will be asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement agreeing to the above terms.
