The target system will be contracted for, setup and configured.
It is proposed to setup a system of moderate means ( 300Mhz PII system), and co-locate the hardware at an Internet Service Provider.
The system cost for a refurbished PC system is estimated to be less than $400. The resulting system would be owned by the contractee, if desired.
Co-location services are estimated to be less than $75/month based upon recent survey.
The system will be configured during the month of February and delivered to the co-location space on March 1.
The existing (2001) web sites will be transfered to the new system prior to deployment. The system will therefore come up as www.commuterchallenge.net.
The databases will be initialized and the reference site, examplecity.commuterchallenge.net will be put online.
The effort for this portion is 3 days.
A day is reserved for April/May for unforseen system configuration issues.
Ongoing system maintenance for this machine (beyond June) is available and would cost 1/2 day of effort. This would include doing regular backups.
