Terry Richard Cottam, 1958-1999; in remembrance project

It is with deep sadness that I pass on the news that Terry died this Friday, Nov 5th, 1999, after a 2 week illness. He was only 41 but he did so much good in the short time he was here, he will be sorely missed by the many people whose lives he touched and who he helped in Ottawa through his tireless activism and advocacy and education.

He will be missed in the international community as well for his outstanding work in defense of the Burmese people, alerting North Americans and others around the world about their plight under the ongoing military junta. Terry was a true hero.

The funeral memorial service was held on Wednesday Nov. 10th, at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, Kent St. @ Lisgar St. in Ottawa, ON, Canada. at 4 pm

The visitations were held at the funeral home, on Tuesday Nov. 9, from 2-4 pm, and again from 7-9 pm.

Family and dear ones have requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memoriam to Canadian Friends of Burma and/or the East Timorese Action Network.

Following the service at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home at 4, there was a GATHERING TO COMMEMORATE TERRY COTTAM held at: CENTRE TOWN COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTRE 420 COOPER STREET FROM 5-7
