Thanks for the clarification regarding the use of MDF in 802.10.
So far, none of the benefits that have been listed for the
scheme strike me as unachievable even if the MDF was not
constrained to be a constant (including the benefit of
a table-less key-lookup scheme). Constraining the MDF to
be constant per SA, as currently specified, does have the
(unfortunate) side-effect of precluding the use of key-seeded
stream ciphers with multicast in 802.10.
