SKIP interoperabililty

We are planning on doing a SKIP interoperability test session
at the Dallas IETF, based on the SKIP I-D that was recently
published. Note: these aren't demos, (which we have been
doing for over a year now) but rather interoperability
efforts between independent implementations.

I am happy to announce that at the SKIP BOF at Interop
in Atlanta this week, 3 independent implementations of SKIP (based
on an earlier draft) have successfully interoperated!

There was not a single line of shared code between the
3 implementations, which were implemented in different
parts of the world, with little communication between
the parties.

They have interoperated using different encryption
algorithms, such as DES-CBC, RC4 etc. and with configurable
key update policies. At least 2 of these implementations
will become freely available. We will include support
for ESP in our forthcoming free SKIP source sw, delayed by
just a little bit to implement the draft that was published
yesterday.

Anyone else wishing to participate in SKIP interoperability
tests at the Dallas IETF is more than welcome. These are open
forums, and everyone is invited. Most of the current independent
implementors plan to be there, to interoperate using SKIP/ESP/AH.
If you plan to come, let me know. We'll try to reserve the right
sized room, based on the response.

After unicast SKIP interoperabililty, our goal is to
focus on multicast SKIP interoperability at the April
IETF, just in case you plan on implementing, and would
like to know the road map.

Ashar.
