SKIP source release now available

Folks,

We are pleased to announce the free public availability of Sun's
implementation of SKIP in source form.

Important points about this release that should be highlighted
are:

- This implementation can be used in commercial products, free
of charge, subject to the restrictions described in the software
and patent license statements.

- Since this is the season of giving, we are also pleased to announce
free commercial use of the Stanford public key patents (which cover
Diffie-Hellman, DSA and public key in general) to users/OEMs of this
package.

Sun Microsystems and Cylink have negotiated an agreement by means of
which Sun can sublicense commercial use of the Stanford public key patents
to the SKIP user and developer community free of charge. For precise details
of this license, please consult the README.PATENT file in the SKIP source
directory.

- In addition to the free use of Stanford patents, there is also a free for
commercial use implementation of a high speed bignum package, used for
Diffie-Hellman, etc. (Check the file BN_SOFTWARE_LICENSE for precise details
on the terms of this license.) Thanks are due to Colin Plumb and Phillip
Zimmerman for this software.

This means that the community can acquire the source code, port it
for use on their platform or inside commercial products without
paying any royalties to either Sun or Cylink, subject to the
terms of the software and patent licenses.
