Two minor comments.  What is the reason for suggesting 1Gbyte as the
data volume limit?  Do you mean to imply that if one were hashing a
2Gbyte file, one should use two keys, or is the recommendation loosely
related to the time period of use or number of uses?

Just for clarification, is it not possible that other modes of use
could provide equivalent security?  You are simply saying that you have
proofs for your proposed scheme and not for others?
