cisco ISAKMP/OAKLEY implementation
This is just a recap of what I said at the IPSEC mtg Monday night for those
that weren't there or those who missed the URLs.
cisco is making available a reference implementation of ISAKMP with OAKLEY
extensions. We plan to make this available mid April or earlier. The
implementation works with the NRL PF Key socket and runs on BSD 4.4
platforms such as BSDi, NetBSD and FreeBSD. It should port to other OSes
easily as it runs entirely in user space.
We plan to do interoperability testing over the net between our
implementation, the NSA implementation (to be available soon from MIT, I'm
told) and the implementation from the Brittish Defense Research Agency.
Others are welcome and encouraged to join in.
The implementation is free in source code form and we have purchased
licensing that allows it to be copied and used in commercial or
non-commercial products without royalties. The intent is to move things in
the IPSEC forward by making code available and as unrestricted as possible.
The exact license will be online shortly after I get back to San Jose on
our anonymous ftp site. The README file in:
ftp://ftp.cisco.com/isakmp-oakley/README
will have the exact location of the license and other files including
instructions for downloading the code.
A mailing list has been set up for discussions and announcements relatng to
our implementation. The list is isakmp-oakley@cisco.com and you can add
yourself by sending email to majordomo@cisco.com with the line
subscribe isakmp-oakley
in the body of the message. The mailing list is being archived in the same
anonymous ftp directory.
Of course, access to our code is limited to sites in the US and Canada.
