Re: RC5 Performance Information

If one wants higher performance and one is willing to use patented
algorithms, there are better ones out there. IBM's SEAL, developed by
Don Coppersmith, comes to mind. It also hasn't been studied well
enough, but it has been studied better than RC5 and is blazingly fast
-- far faster than RC5.

If one needs real performance in a firewall or routing product,
however, the right answer is hardware. Gigabit 3DES encrypting chips
exist.

If one insists on software and is willing to use things that are
insufficiently studied, code known to be compatible with RC4 and free
of any intellectual property restrictions is available on the net, and
is faster than RC5.

In any case, I believe it is time to get off this topic. The point has
been made.
