I have heard considerable sentiment against discussing these in San
Jose on grounds that the proposed changes haven't been available
online prior to the IETF meeting (no one's fault -- just a reality at
present), so I'd like to defer this to the mailing list for now with
the intent of presenting/discussing these in detail at the Spring 97
   IETF meeting.

This boils down to the "is a wg meeting for presentations or is it for
high-bandwidth discussions that are more efficiently handled in person
instead of on the mailing list".

Normally I'd agree that it would perhaps be useful for Steve to make a
quick presentation of proposed changes, since it might help the e-mail
discussion later. As wg presentations go, I believe this is probably
would be one of the more useful ones. However, given that we seem to
have only once wg slot, I can understand why the wg chairs might want to
defer this discussion to the mailing list. The fact that we have only
one slot means that we really have to use our time wisely.
