IPsec Straw Poll results

All,

The email I've seen, both privately and on the list, indicates that
there is rough (but not smooth) consensus within the IPsec WG that:

ESP/AH should use a fixed size 32 bit counter for replay detection.

The IETF requirement is for rough consensus, which has been met.

On the truncation question, the overwhelming response was of the form
"Hugo is the expert, go with whatever Hugo recommends."

So I'd like to ask Hugo to post a note with his formal recommendation
with regards to truncation in AH HMAC SHA-1/MD5 so that the documents
can be edited accordingly. Then perhaps the AH HMAC document editors
can create new I-Ds, put them online, and perhaps present them at
the Memphis IETF.

I spoke on the telephone with Paul Lambert <palamber@us.oracle.com>,
IPsec Co-Chair, on Tuesday and he verbally concurred with the above.
