free ISAKMP reference implementation

Cisco Systems is pleased to announce the availability of their free
ISAKMP+Oakley reference implementation. This is based on ISAKMP version 6
and the ISAKMP+Oakley Resolution document version 2.

New features from the previous release include all mandatory and optional
authentication methods. Authentication with RSA signatures and RSA encryption
is accomplished by compiling the ISAKMP distribution with RSAREF. (Note:
RSAREF is *not* included in the distribution).

This ISAKMP+Oakley implementation has successfully interoperated with
other independent implementations at the ANX IPsec bake-off and in
independent testing. And it is fully compliant with the relevant drafts.

This distribution uses the PF_KEY Key Management API to register security
associations with a PF_KEY aware kernel. The NRL IPsec software distribution
contains an implementation of PF_KEY for 4.4-BSD systems.

As with all cryptographic utilites this code is export controlled and all
applicable (U.S) laws will be obeyed in its distribution. Apologies to
all who cannot obtain it.

To obtain a copy of the ISAKMP+Oakley distribution (and also a copy of
the NRL IPsec distribution) point your favorite browser to:
