Re: X.509 Spec

On the server that Denis pointed to, you'll find the final text of the 1997
edition of X.509 (as submitted to the ITU and ISO for publication) at:

ftp://ftp.bull.com/pub/OSIdirectory/ITU/97x509final.doc

(the primary reason this is not yet available for purchase from either ITU
or ISO is that they will not publish or sell it until all the other parts of
the 1997 X.500 Series are also ready (soon we're told by the editor).

As for current work underway in X.509, there is a Working Document which is
currently being revised to reflect the outcome of the September meeting. The
previous version of that document is available at:

ftp://ftp.bull.com/pub/OSIdirectory/Phoenix98Output/CertificateExtensionsWD.
doc

When the revisions are complete (within 2 months) the new version will
likely be found in:

ftp://ftp.bull.com/pub/OSIdirectory/Beijing98/Vancouver98/

These two documents provide a complete picture of the X.509 activity except
of course for defect reports. These are recorded together with the defects
on the other parts of the X.500 Series at the bull.com site, but at present
it is somewhat out of date (should be updated within 2 months as well).

Hope this helps.
