Eric, Well, I have to admit that I was not familair with protocol number 97. However, that does not change the fact that ESP requires either IP or a transport protocol. Just because you got a protocol number assigned for use in the IP next protocol field, doesn't make it appropriate to use here. We have a number of examples of such protocols, many experimental, etc. Steve
