IPSec over satellite

Hi,

There has been issues raised in the satellite community about being able to
speed TCP traffic over satellite links (whether at layer 2 or 4) that is
"compliant" if you will with IPSec. Is there anything in the market today
that improves performance that does not look into the encrypted packet for
modification (I heard someone mention a "packet blaster" but unsure what it
is)? If anyone has any ideas or experience with this issue please let me
know. My first instinct is to put the VPN in front of the satellite link so
modifications to the packet over the link can be done (take IPSec out of the
equation and still provide protection from the internet), but there may be
situations where it must be used. An example is with the TACLANE by General
Dynamics that is a type 1 encryption but still tunnels data from point a to
b.

Any insight or suggestions?
