dam-l Methyl mercury info request: Alberta

I am writing to you in the hopes that you may direct me to some research
into the methyl mercury arena. Here, in High River Alberta, the
NRCB(Natural Resources Conservation Board) is trying to create a large
reservoir in a fairly urban(acreages) area. I have heard that the James
Bay Project was affected by mercury production and that this is common
problem in reservoir locations.

Is there, or could you direct me to, some information which could help in
our fight to not see this project come to fruition. Alberta Public Works
is currently in the engineering phase(gathering data) and we are looking at
any proper and moral way to halt this project. The irony of this whole
project is that there is to be a return canal to the Highwood river so that
this may supplement the instream flow needs(IFN) in the summer months as an
aid to the fish! Estimates range around 80 million dollars for the project
and is soley designed to help the fish. At 80cfs return to the river of
this questionable water - does this seem viable or cost effective to you?

I would certainly appreciate any and all help that you may be on this!

Thank you,

Chris Wilson
