Switzerland: Bid dam project stopped
After 15 years of opposition by Swiss Environmental NGO’s, the power producing (privat) Companys « Misoxer KW » und « EW Laufenburg » stopped the 380 Million $ pump storage - dam project « Val Curciusa ».
Official reason: Producing Electricity using Pump Storage Technology is actually to expensiv, especially in the complet new context of the liberalisation of the power market in Europe.
It is the third big victory of Swiss NGO’s fighting against dams in Swiss Alps within the last 15 years.
