Dear friends,
As you all will be knowing, the Narmada struggle is facing a new situation
as most of the activists are under arrest, and they are refusing to take
any bail offered to them by the court. We believe that as they have not
indulged in any crime other than protesting peacefully in their own way,
they should be unconditionally released at the earliest. Massive protests
are going on in and outside the Dhule district.
Please write/fax/mail to the Maharashtra CM asking him to delegate a group
of senior officers to go and talk to the activists who are in/out of jail,
to find a peaceful solution to the demands/issues. Ask him to releases them
and to lift the anti-people article-144, which takes away the basic right
to gather in a group, from the respective areas. Request him to adopt
positive measures of finding solutions than going for repressive ones.
