dam-l Announcing a Dam-Impacts Bibliography

In the framework of an initiative by the Food and Agriculture
Organization of the UN (FAO) to collate information on fish, fisheries and
the environment in relation to dams, which was triggered off by a
cooperation between the World Commission on Dams and FAO, World
Fisheries Trust is currently compiling a database of dam-related literature.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------

This message describes the literature sources that we are targetting and
requests recommendations from this discussion group on potential sources of
information and suggested citations for inclusion in the database. Please
contact dams@worldfish.org with your submissions before November 30, 1999.
The source of all submissions that are included in the database will be
noted in the database. The database will be available to the public via the
internet.

Publication types considered: published academic (peer-reviewed) materials,
government reports, journal articles, newspaper and magazine articles, NGO
reports and surveys, unpublished (grey) literature authored by government,
industry, NGOs, academics, internet and e-mail communications.

All literature collected will be coded according to the following general
subject list (these are the major subject headings -- each category will
consist of 3 to 8 sub-headings):

Dams Review Subject Code Index

A. Multisector integrated area management and planning procedures
(implemented before dam approval and/or construction)

B. Reservoir Management Options (implemented after dam approval and/or
construction)

environment and adjacent terrestrial zone) upstream and/or downstream

D. Observed or anticipated negative impacts on existing fisheries -
