Dear NGO friends and members of civil society -- As many of you may know, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) takes implementation of our disclosure requirements quite seriously. However, we're always looking to improve on both process and substance and we're committed to ensuring that our implementation record is more than just "good". Over the past 7-8 months, IFC has been working on improving access to information disclosure for parties, including NGOs, that are interested in IFC's activities. One of the key improvements is a new web-based system that we believe is much more user friendly and easier to navigate than the current search engine for IFC documents found on the World Bank InfoShop website. As the NGO community monitors IFC projects regularly, we thought it would be a good idea to get some feedback from you on this new system. We will be launching the system shortly, but over the next few weeks we welcome you to test the site (www.ifc.org/projects) and provide feedback to me if you see any room for improvement. Some key points: Although the official repository of all IFC documents (ERS, SPIs and Category A EIAs) will continue to be the World Bank InfoShop, IFC staff will now be responsible for the automated disclosure of these documents through our Lotus Notes, web-based system. You may now search for IFC documents at the following web address: www.ifc.org/projects For the first time, we will now be including online access to Category A EIA Executive Summarys -- NGOs and other interested parties will still be able to get the larger, hard copies of the EIAs and Resettlement Plans at the World Bank InfoShop.
