              British MPs warning
              about Turkish dam

              Members of parliament in Britain have warned
              the British government not to get involved in
              the controversial Illisu Dam project in south
              east Turkey. 

              The warning comes from members of the
              Parliamentary Human Rights Group who have
              just returned from a visit to the area where
              many Kurds live. 

              One MP, Peter Lloyd, said that despite
              assurances from the Turkish government, there
              was still no strategic plan to rehouse the
              thousands of people who'll be made homeless
              when the area is flooded. 

              The British government has already indicated
              that it's prepared to underwrite British
              construction companies which have contracts
              to work on the lllisu Dam.
