DAM-L impacts of water withdrawals on a basin: Canada - information request

Hi everyone:

Jamie Linton is a Canadian writer who specializes in water issues..
He's interested in finding info regarding impacts of between basin
transfers of water, water export out of a basin. It needn't be
large amounts - he's also looking for recent research into effects
of removing small amounts of amounts of water from any given basin.

I'm not completely sure that he understands that there are laws in
aquatic science that supercede political borders based on past
conversationns we've had on impacts on salmonid species. Of course
that was in the early 90's! :)

Anyway, I said I'd forward this to the dam list in the event someone
here may be able to point him towards some relevant literature.

cheers!

I'm working on a small project to gather knowledge about actual
and potential environmental effects of freshwater removals or diversions.
This would apply to estuarine and marine ecosystems as well as to
lacustrine and riparian ecosystems. I know this is a big subject(!)
but it is made somewhat more manageable by the fact that my focus in
on aquatic ecosystems in Canada and that I'm mostly interested in
recent work. I'm fairly familiar with the literature up until about
1990 and am particularly interested in research that has been done
in the past decade.
