participant to return to his or her home organization and apply the
information, skills, and contacts obtained at the Summit. The names of
those who cannot be supported at this year's meeting will be kept on file
and contacted as to their interest in participating in the Fifth Water
Information Summit in 2002.

InfoDEV resources for scholarships are limited and there is no guarantee
that the Water Information Summit will receive support.

The WaterWeb Consortium was created in 1998 by members of the Inter-
American Water Resources Network (IWRN) to promote the sharing of
information concerning water and the earth's environment. The Consortium
seeks to create a global community, bringing together educational,
governmental, nonprofit, and commercial entities interested in water
research, conservation, and management. The WaterWeb Consortium's goals
are to raise awareness of water-related issues, promote access to quality
water information, and to share information with water resources
stakeholders and decision makers in support of integrated water and land
management.

The Fourth Water Information Summit (WIS-4) will be held in October 2001
in Panam? City, Panam?. The annual Water information Summits bring
together water information users, information specialists, and webmasters
to explore ways of improving the quality of water information and making
better use of the Internet to share information with the public, water
organizations, and across borders. The Fourth Summit will be held in
conjunction with a meeting of the Central American Environment
Commission, a ministerial level conference, and the Water Fair for
Central America and the Caribbean. WIS-4 will be hosted by the Water
Center for the Humid Tropics of Latin America and the Caribbean
(CATHALAC) and the National Environmental Authority (ANAM) of Panam?.
There will be opportunities to visit the Panam? Canal locks and other
water-related projects in Panama as part of that meeting. A call for
papers is available at <www.waterweb.org/wis/wis4>. Abstracts for the
meeting may be submitted electronically online and are due to the
organizers by JUNE 30, 2001.
