13 dams planned
ETHIOPIA: The Ministry of Water Resources has said that 13 power generating
dams and an irrigation development project covering 590,000ha of land are
to be constructed through joint projects by the Nile reparian states.
$400mil. will be needed to implement the water projects, whilst the money
for their execution will be part of the $30bil. that is required by the
Nile reparian states for joint projects. A board of experts will be
assembled from Ethiopia, the Sudan and Egypt in October to look into the
feasibility of the projects.
