        International Symposium for Environmental Software Systems (ISESS)

has since 1995 served as a forum for presentation and discussion of
innovative applications of computer science tools and techniques to
environmental problems. The ISESS steering committee, in support of
iEMSs, is organizing a paper stream titled "Environmental Research and
Management: The Role of Environmental Software Systems" at iEMSs 2002.
This stream constitutes the ISESS special activity that normally takes
place in even-numbered years.  The convenor of this special stream is Dr
Robert Argent, The University of Melbourne, Australia.

iEMSs 2002 is the Biennial meeting of the International Environmental
Modelling and Software Society
Conference Theme: Integrated Assessment and Decision Support
Venue: University of Lugano, Switzerland
Date: 24-27 June 2002

We seek papers that demonstrate a unique contribution to environmental
research as well as to computer and computational science. Case study
papers from practical applications where the informatics content has had a
significant impact on a particular environmental issue are welcomed.

A limited number of papers will be accepted on the basis of a 300 word
abstract submitted by SEPTEMBER 30
It is strongly encouraged to use the electronic submission procedure for
papers and abstracts. Please connect to the iEMSs 2002 website
(http://www.iemss.org/iemss2002) and select the link "Submit an
abstract" which will lead you to a form, where you can enter
details, the abstract, and select the session.

Abstracts can also be sent by mail or fax to the Conference Secretariat.
