*** SOUTH AFRICA: National Award for Women in Water
Minister Kasrils of Water Affairs and Forestry (DWAF) announced the
establishment of a national annual award for women in water. This award has
been jointly established by the DWAF and the Water Research Commission, and
will recognise the important contribution of women in the management of
South Africa's scarce water resources, from community level to the highest
levels. This award will be presented for the first time on National Women's
Day, 2002.
