Globe and Mail, March 4
OTTAWA -- U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright will visit
Ottawa on Monday and Tuesday to discuss several matters, including
the situation in the Middle East and the dispute about Pacific
salmon. As well as meeting Foreign Affairs Minister Lloyd Axworthy,
Mrs. Albright is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Jean Chretien and
other cabinet ministers. Mr. Axworthy said the two countries will
also discuss environmental co-operation, the United Nations, Nigeria,
Haiti and a summit to be held next month in Chile of North and South
American countries. A spokesman for Mrs. Albright said he expects
here to ask Canadian and other NATO officials to closely examine the
deal struck last week between Iraqi officials and UN
Secretary-General Kofi Annan.-- CP
