Employment Opportunity

                          EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

*************************************************************************

Studies in Political Economy, one of Canada's leading progressive academic
journals, is seeking a dynamic, capable and self-motivated Copy Editor, with
word processing skills; knowledge of desktop publishing (or a willingness to
learn); and good personal and organizational skills.

Preference will be given to candidates who are active in the defense of
social justice; unlikely to be late for their own funeral; and deeply
convinced of the benefits of regularly filing correspondence in an orderly
fashion.

Tasks will include copy editing; preparation of files for a desktop
publisher, or of camera ready proofs for a printer; management of the
manuscript flow; and organization of the journal mailout and of the Annual
Board Meeting. The job entails work of 2 ½ days a week, based in a well equipped office at
Carleton University. Salary will be paid according to the University's
administrative scale and will include normal employee benefits. Candidates
must be able to assume their responsibilities at the beginning of September.

To apply, please send (or email): (1) a brief cv; (2) a short letter stating
why you believe that you are the right person for this job; and (3) two
letters of reference (or two names of referees whom we can consult), to:
