DEMONSTRATE AGAINST THE US MILITARY ATTACK ON IRAQ!

The Ottawa-Hull HANDS OFF IRAQ! Committee is calling on all peace and
justice-loving people in the region to demonstrate against the US-led
military attack against Iraq on Saturday, December 19 @ 12pm outside the US
embassy (Metcalfe & Wellington).
High school and university students, workers and activists from many
organizations vigorously condemned the US-led attack on Iraq and Chretien's
support at a militant demonstration outside the US embassy in Ottawa on
December 17 at noon. Protesters shouted "Stop the attack! Hands off Iraq!"
and "Oppose Canada's support!"
Hundreds of people have also participated in demonstrations in Vancouver,
Montreal, Toronto and other cities in Canada and around the world. The
people of Canada and the world are declaring that they do not and will not
accept the US fascist logic that MIGHT MAKES RIGHT.
The US-led strike force has been attacking Iraq for two days already.
Thursday's first attack was led by American B-52 bombers, each capable of
carrying 20 cruise missiles. They were accompanied by US Navy planes from
the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise. Earlier Royal Airforce Tornado bombers
flew raids from their base in Kuwait. More than 200 sea-launched Tomahawk
cruise missiles were used in Wednesday night's action. An Iraqi offical
said on Thursday night that the two waves of bombings had killed 25 people
and injured 75. Two hospitals in Baghdad were also reported to be damaged.
Russia, China and France, all permanent members of the UN Security Council,
have vehemently condemned the US-led military strikes. The Russian Duma
passed a resolution calling the raids a "barbarous" act and that they
"constitute international terrorism". China urged Britain and the US "to
stop all military actions against Iraq" and reiterated that China was
opposed to the use of force, or the threat of force, against Iraq.
Using the name of the United Nations, the US has escalated its threats
against Iraq to open warfare in its desperate attempt to impose its dictate
on every country which does not willingly accept its domination of the
entire world. Those countries like Canada which support the US are acting
in violation of the Charter of the United Nations and all its principles
including the safeguarding of peace, equality of nations and the right of
all nations to self-determination and to oppose aggression and intervention
into their affairs.
STOP THE ATTACK! HANDS OFF IRAQ!
SAY NO TO CANADA'S SUPPORT!
FOR A PEACEFUL SOLUTION TO THE CRISIS!
