South Asia Partnership Canada invites you to a
Consultation on the Importance of Peacebuilding in Afghanistan
On: February 26-27, 1999
At: Parliament Hill, Ottawa
Afghanistan has endured one of the most prolonged periods of conflict in modern history. Torn apart by armed conflict since 1978 and today faced by new challenges in the form of Taliban rule, Afghanistan must overcome many hurdles before moving towards sustainable peace and human development. This two days consultation will allow Canadian NGOs, government officials, and individuals concerned with the future peace building in Afghanistan to gather and discuss the key issues affecting the country. By promoting awareness and open dialogue between all stakeholders, it will provide appropriate policy recommendations for the government and NGOs involved in the peacebuilding process in Afghanistan.
Topics of Discussion:
The consultation will feature the contributions of four special guest speakers from Afghanistan, as well as many other from NGOs and government.
SAP Canada encourages representatives from NGOs, government, donor agencies, community organizations, social activists, media, policy researchers, academics, students and individuals concerned with peacebuilding in Afghanistan to participate.
