Re: Demonstration on Parliament Hill on Sunday, April 18 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM (Ottawa)

There is a difference between the Serbian people and the Serbian state.
NATO has inflamed state terror and ethnic conflict in the region, and this
war (and Canada's involvement) should be condemned not blindly supported.
This war has little to do with remedying the situation in the Balkans. Just
yesterday, the U.S. generals were on T.V. saying that they would "not
apologize" for "collateral damage" in the form of 40 Kosovar refugees killed
by NATO bombs.

I would support a genuine U.N.-led intervention to secure peace in Kosovo
and Yugoslavia, but the root of the problems in this country are not going
to be solved by this current campaign. I wish I shared your optimism --
just remember, NATO can militarily force a victory and a NATO settlement if
it wants to, but at what cost?

For a more moral and just world based on the respect for the fundamental
human rights of all citizens regardless of ethnicity, religion, sex, and
other designations contained within United Nations Declaration, respectfully,

John
