EGALE Gala - Tues. April 20 @ 6:30 pm
For those in the National Capital Region, here are details of EGALE's
Annual Gala on Parliament Hill this Tuesday, April 20 at 6:30 p.m..
With guest speaker Mark Tewksbury (who is himself facing an immigration
challenge) and speakers from all 5 parties (including Reform, which has
often declined to attend in previous years), it's shaping up to be a
powerful and interesting evening.
If you wish to obtain a ticket, just:

* visit one of the community venues:

One in 10, Centretown Pub, Capital Xtra!
* purchase your ticket at the door.
Tickets are $40, $15 for low income.

MARK TEWKSBURY TO SPEAK AT
EGALE ANNUAL GALA ON PARLIAMENT HILL
ALL 5 FEDERAL PARTIES REPRESENTED,
WITH SAME-SEX LEGISLATION IN THE OFFING
Olympic Gold Medallist Mark Tewksbury will speak at EGALE's Annual Gala
in Room 200 of the West Block on Parliament Hill on Tuesday April 20,
1999.
EGALE is a national lesbian and gay equality organization. The EGALE
Gala is an annual event to raise awareness of the important equality
issues affecting the lives of lesbian and gay Canadians and to give
members of the community the opportunity to meet the many Members of
Parliament and Senators who have demonstrated their commitment to human
rights for all Canadians.
Mark Tewksbury’s presence will be particularly significant, since he
himself is faced with the challenge of sponsoring the immigration to
Canada of his same-sex partner under the current Immigration Act, which
continues to discriminate against lesbian and gay Canadians. A
representative of all five federal political parties will also be
speaking. The Gala will take place just as the Government is
considering broad-sweeping changes to federal legislation to recognize
same-sex couples equally.

Time: 6:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Place: Room 200, West Block, House of Commons
Guest Speaker: Olympic Gold Medallist Mark Tewksbury.
