The Council of Canadians ("Canada's real Official Opposition", according to
the Globe and Mail) is a national public interest group, committed to
opposing corporate rule and protecting social programs by promoting
democracy. We have around 100,000 members coast-to-coast.
WE SEEK AN ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT TO THE ORGANIZATIONAL SERVICES TEAM to
provide overall administrative support to the Team, particularly in three
principle areas:
1) Office Management: Participating in ensuring the overall smooth
functioning of the National Office by providing reception services
(including answering the telephones & directing calls, responding to general
information inquiries from the public, greeting & directing visitors),
liaising with courier services (to expedite pick-ups & deliveries), opening
& distributing incoming correspondence (mail, email, & fax) monitoring &
ordering office supplies, dealing with office equipment service and
maintenance contractors, etc.
2) Accounting and Finances: Providing administrative support to our
accounting and finance work including assisting with the processing of
receivables and payables, maintaining and balancing petty cash; preparing
the daily bank deposit, maintaining vendor and other accounting files, etc.
3) Human Resources: Providing administrative support to a variety of
personnel processes and projects including the selection and hiring process,
the Employee annual review process, Employee attendance/leave tracking, etc.
You will bring 1-2 year's experience in administrative support and systems
including working in reception services. You are fluently bilingual and
your communications and interpersonal skills are excellent. You have
first-rate administrative skills a strong ability to learn,
organize/prioritize a multi-task workload, take initiative and be flexible.
You have a capacity to work in a self-directed manner and to work
collaboratively with others in a team situation. You possess excellent
computer skills. Demonstrated support for The Council's values, vision and
direction and a basic knowledge of current national economic, social and
political issues are considered assets.
