East Timor Vigils - continuing on Thurs. Sept. 16

The response from the Ottawa community to the crisis in East Timor has been
amazing. At the ongoing vigils new people show up every night. This
morning more than 30 people showed up at the Indonesian Embassy for an
urgent picket to prevent the embassy from receiving its mail. We must
keep up the pressure in order to ensure a just and lasting peace in East
Timor.

It is a traditional East Timorese custom to grieve a death by wearing a
small black patch of cloth. People are encouraged to make their own and
wear them.

Also, there will be a small picket at the Indonesian Embassy on Thursday
Sept. 16th at 8:30 am to again prevent the Embassy from receiving their
mail.
