Naturalist Clubs Present Wolves And Ecology Evening.

Naturalist Clubs Present Wolves And Ecology Evening.

Wolves have always elicited a mysterious passion in our lives, both
historically and present day. Capitalizing on this interest, the Rideau
Valley and Mississippi Valley Field Naturalists are presenting an exciting
evening on wolves and wolf research, with Dr. John and Mary Theberge, noted
international researchers on wolves. Dr. Theberge is the authour of many
books and publications on the topic and his recent book Wolf Country,
written in collaboration with Mary, is the product of one of the
longest-running wolf studies in North America.

John and Mary Theberge have spent more than thirty years conductiong field
research in many North American sites especially Algonquin Park. John
Theberge is a professor of ecology and resource management in the Faculty of
Environmental Studies, University of Waterloo, and is a Canadian
representative on the World Conservation Union's wolf specialist group. Mary
is a former teacher and now full-time illustrator and wolf researcher.

The Theberge team of John and Mary are involved in substantive long term
wolf research with current emphasis on wolf-beaver relationships as well as
comparative research with wolves in Yellowstone National Park. To quote
Robert Bateman, "John Theberge is a respected scientist, a vivid writer, a
philosopher and a fighter."

The Naturalist Clubs' special evening will be held at Carleton Heritage Inn,
Carleton Place on Saturday, Nov. 6. The evening will kick off with a
reception (cash bar) at 6:00 P.M. followed by a buffet dinner at 7:30. A
