The Ontario Public Interest Research Group of Ottawa (OPIRG-OTTAWA) is
seeking a part-time contract Coordinator for January 3, 2000 to November
3, 2000.  OPIRG is a bilingual, student-funded and directed environmental
and social justice volunteer organization.  OPIRG uses research, education
and action to promote social awareness and change and to act in the public
interest.

Responsibilities:

Campus Relations -Build and maintain good relations with campus groups and
media; developing and maintaining visibility; networking with groups on
campus; etc...

Projects and Communications - Plan and execute special events and
projects; assist with the coordination of a campus radio show; deal with
media and press releases; etc..

General Office Administration - Provide support to the Board of Directors
and carry out assigned tasks; manage day to day operations and
administration of the office; etc..

Qualifications:

*MUST be fluently bilingual (Excellent French/English written & oral
skills)
*Knowledge of and experience with social and environmental justice issues;
non-profit setting an asset
*Keen ability to network, maintain media relations and creatively produce
promotional material
*Capability to plan events, work under stressful conditions and to meet
deadlines
*Exemplary organisational, administrative and time management skills in
addition to strong interpersonal and communication skills
*Computer literate - specifically Macintosh, desktop publishing an asset
