Coordinator - Full-time position (40 hours per week)

The Ontario Public Interest Research Group at Carleton University
(OPIRG-Carleton) is seeking a full-time Coordinator (40 hours per week) for
January 4, 2000.   OPIRG is a student-funded and directed environmental and
social justice volunteer organization.  OPIRG uses research, education and
action to promote social awareness and to act in the public interest.

Responsibilities:
Campus Relations -Build and maintain good relations with campus groups and
media; developing and maintaining visibility; networking with groups on
campus; etc...
Projects and Communications - Plan and execute special events/projects;
deal with media facilitate groups etc..
Volunteer Management - recruit, train and supervise volunteers
General Office Administration - Provide support to the Board of Directors
and carry out assigned tasks; manage day to day operations and
administration of the office; supervise grant and part-time employees etc..

Qualifications:
*	Experience with social and environmental justice issues; non-profit
setting an asset
*	Keen ability to network, maintain media relations and creatively
produce promotional material
*	Capability to plan events, work under stressful conditions and to
meet deadlines
*	Organizational and time management skills in addition to strong
interpersonal and communication skills
*	Computer literate - email, desktop publishing an asset

Benefits:
*	Base rate of pay $15.36/hour
*	Progressive unionized work environment with dental and health plan
