Subject: Resis the WTO in Ottawa on Nov. 30th

PLEASE CIRCULATE WIDELY!

NO WTO! NO WTO! NO WTO! NO WTO! NO WTO!

EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO AN ANTI-GLOBALIZATION PARTY ON PARLIAMENT HILL,
OTTAWA, NOVEMBER 30TH @ 11:00AM

>From Nov. 29 to Dec. 3 thousands of leaders of transnational corporations,
governments and a gaggle of bureaucrats will gather in Seattle for the
World Trade Organization (WTO) Summit. The big business "free trade" lobby
has an ugly agenda for its historic meeting: to further pro-corporate trade
liberlization and degregulation beyond the GATT (General Agreement on
Tariffs and Trade). They want to impose corporate managed trade rules on
every area of our society. Areas like food, water, agriculture, education
and healthcare will all be subject to controls by a judiciary body which is
not responsible to any entity outside of itself.

WTO judges are trade bureaucrats, usually corporate lawyers, and ther are
no rules preventing them from having conflicts of interests in the matters
they decide. The WTO has legal standing equivilant to the United Nations,
yet operates behind closed doors, and without any input from civil society
or NGOs. There is no format for appeal outside of the organization, and
the rulings can only be appealed to another panel within the WTO.

The main proponents and beneficiaries of "free trade" are transnational
corporations (eg. Monsanto, Microsoft, Kodak, Gerber Foods, the lead
industry, asbestos manufacturers etc.) While it's proponents say that
the WTO is based on "free trade", in fact the ministerial documents prove
that it is really a comprehensive system of corporate managed trade.

The environment, healthcare, human rights and education are all under
attack! Join the resistance and let your voice be heard!

Citizens will be gathering on Parliament Hill on November 30th, at 11:00am
to send a strong message to the Canadian government that Canada's
participation in this undemocratic process is unacceptable! We will not
tolerate our rights to be stripped away by a handfull of multinational
corporations.
