Subject: Noon hour demonstration

Hi Gang,

There will be demonstration on Friday, March 3, from 12-1 pm in front of the
Museum of Civilization in Hull. The Museum has just cut almost half of their
security staff, the majority of which were young workers, with the intention
of contracting the work out to an outside (non-unionized) security firm. Not
only does this action violate the current collective agreement between the
museum and the staff, it places the museum in a dangerous position in
regards to public health and safety, as museum security staff are highly
trained to meet public safety standards (CPR, fire safety, etc) as
legislated in the Canada Labour Code. And this is yet another example of the
governement's laissez-faire attitude towards young workers, cutting jobs
(that include benefits, union membership, etc) in favour of minimum wage,
zero benefits rent-a-cop jobs.

So hope to see you (and anyone you want to pass this message along to) in
front of the Museum, from 12 to 1 pm to protest against this latest cut to
museum staff.

Thanks !

Bonnie
