create an "Alternative Festival of Life" at the Hamilton War Show.
"One of the largest exhibitions of military aircraft in North
America. Described by the Ancaster News as "little more than a
trade show for the U.S. Military-industrial complex," with B-52
bombers & depleted-uranium-spewing Warthogs; "Kiddie
Commando" which dresses up 1- & 2-year-olds in camouflage &
war paint, and runs them through a military obstacle course as real
soldiers shoot water pistols at them, air-to-ground infantry assaults;
celebrations of the Desert Storm slaughter of the Iraqi people; and
more. As a registered charity (!), the war show receives $100,000 a
year in public money. The Fathers Day Coalition for Peace, in
conjunction with Homes not Bombs Ontario, is planning a large,
nonviolent presence which will include the festival of life,
nonviolent disruptions and artistically-based blockades, and more.
We will be there all day, encouraging people not to attend the war
show, and to instead engage in family fun that is in keeping with a
culture of peace, not a dead-end celebration of war. Buses & vans
