Background:
The year 2000 is the United Nations International Year for a “Culture of
Peace.” It also the beginning of the UN's "International Decade for a
Culture of Peace and Non-violence for the Children of the World."

This is the fourth year that the Coalition to Oppose the Arms Trade (COAT)
has focused a campaign on the so called "National Capital Air Show." This
"air show" uses WAR planes as a source of entertainment. Among the
"performers" are many of the world’s fastest and most deadly fighter and
bomber aircraft ever built (including several nuclear weapons delivery
systems!)

Please boycott the Ottawa war show and join us instead at a festival to
celebrate peace, life, creativity and the environment!

Our FESTIVAL OF PEACE! will include:
* Street theatre and giant puppets (by Homes not Bombs-Ottawa)
<warshowpups@hotmail.com>
* Satirical songs (by Ottawa's Raging Grannies) <almaleh@storm.ca>
* Free vegetarian food (by Food not Bombs-Ottawa) <ericbarclay@hotmail.com>
(The above email addresses are provided in case you want to offer assistance.)

There will also be:
* speakers, information tables, banners and signs, leafletting, live music,
clowns, drumming and dance.

Contact us if you can help with:
* kite flying, face painting and cooperative games

We are also looking for:
* stilt walkers, unicyclists, magicians, jugglers, etc.

Join us in creating a fun atmosphere at the FESTIVAL OF PEACE!
Any help that you can offer would be very much appreciated!
