[OPIRG-EVENTS] Demand Clemency for Leonard Peltier - Dec. 11 @ 11 am

Please distribute widely

Leonard Peltier is an aboriginal activist who has been in a US prison for
the past 23 years for a crime he did not commit. Recently, as part of the
Canadian Labour Congress' and Leonard Peltier Defence Committee's Clemency
campaign, hearings were heard in Toronto that unearthed evidence
dramatically contradicting the government's case against him - some of which
has never before been presented.

On Monday December 11th the transcript of this hearing along with a Canadian
application for Clemency will be presented to the US Ambassador just prior
to being released to the media. Everyone who wants to see justice done for
Leonard Peltier, and all First Nations people, is urged to attend a vigil
accompanying the delegation presenting the application.

Monday December 11, 2000
11:00 am - 12:30 pm
US Embassy Entrance
MacKenzie Blvd beside the Chateau Laurier
One block West of Sussex & Rideau

Note that President Clinton has publicly stated that he is seriously
considering granting Clemency to Leonard and that he will make a decision in
the very near future. Your efforts now can make the difference!
