* PEOPLE'S PARLIAMENT ON POVERTY, Tues & Wed Dec
19 & 20, 3pm-midnight, Toronto. An opportunity for those
affected by economic disadvantage, those advocating on behalf of
the poor and all concerned to present/discuss/debate/demand and
otherwise engage in the work that should be done by our leaders to
solve this shameful problem of poverty. Presentations as well as
poetry, song or theatre. Food will be provided for all in attendance.

will erect Christmas tree, a choir will sing carols, and BIG presents
will arrive for the Tent City community. Join this Christmas rally
of support for the people trying to survive down by the waterfront.

(bring shovels, tools, etc). Tent City is at Lakeshore & Cherry St.,
where about 20 people are facing eviction from their homemade

* CLIMATE CHANGE: THE SCIENCE, THE POLITICS (free

is a daunting but fascinating problem. It's a concentrate of the
world's environmental, social, political, cultural & economic issues
-- and a laboratory for such fundamental concepts as
environmental justice, sustainable development and global
governance. Course includes: the science of global warming: what

climate change negotiations & the Kyoto protocol (4 classes);

the Free Trade Area of the Americas agreement. On April 20-22,
2001, heads of state from every country in the western hemisphere
(except Cuba) will meet in Quebec City at the "Summit of the
Americas" to finalize a hemispheric "free" trade agreement known
as the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA). Think NAFTA on

simple-living experience for youth & students, in a rural setting
north of Toronto. Camping, growing food in the garden, biking,
alternative housing & energy explorations, community work &

with a local homeless 'house of hospitality'; help plan a music, art
& spirituality festival; spiritual sharing (interfaith & Christian);
music, art, campfires, saunas, swimming, dance, drumming,
ritual/prayer, celebration, consensus decision-making. Full
program: June 1 - August 25. Seeking 7-20 participants (plus
visitors). Ages 18+. Cost: $100, due on April 1 (needs-based
exemptions) In order to pay for food, travel & living expenses,
participants will seek jobs for two days a week in the community
and/or help with fundraising. Near Flesherton (1.5 hrs north of
