[OPIRG-EVENTS] CLAS Meeting / Reunion de CLAS

Please pass this message on to anybody who might be interested.
The Caribbean and Latin American Solidarity Group (CLAS) will be holding its
first meeting of 2001 on Thursday January 18th @ 7.30pm in the office of the
Ontario Public Interest Research Group (OPIRG) of Carleton University.
The agenda for discussion will include, but not be limited to:
1) The results from the Colombia Forum of December 2,3, 2000: The launching
of the Canada-Colombia Campaign.
2) The Canada-Colombia Campaign's first action: Organizing a nation-wide
tour of Afrocolombian, Indigenous and Peasant leaders.
3) Attendance and participation at the Latin American Solidarity Conference
II in Chicago, March 17, 18.
4) Preparation for the Summit of the Americas in Quebec City (negotiations
for the Free Trade of the Americas FTAA), April 20-22.
5) Define a logo for CLAS

El Colectivo de Solidaridad con America Latina y el Caribe (CLAS) realizara
su primera reunion del año 2001 este jueves, 18 de enero a las 7:30pm en las
oficinas de Grupo de Investigacion sobre el Interes Publico (OPIRG), 326
Centro Universitario,Universidad de Carleton, 1125 Colonel By Drive.
Los puntos del agenda de la reunion incluiran pero no se limitaran a los
siguientes:
1) Informe de resultados del Foro Colombia realizado el pasado 2 y 3 de
diciembre, 2000 y el lanzamiento de la Campaña Canadá-Colombia
2) La primera iniciativa de la Campaña Canadá-Colombia: organizacion de una
gira nacional de lideres afrocolombianos, indigenas y campesinos.
3) Asistencia en la Conferencia de Solidaridad con America Latina en Chicago
el 17-18 de marzo, 2001.
4) Preparacion para la Cumbre de las Americas en la ciudad de Quebec, 20-22
de abril, 2001, dodne se negociara el Area de Libre Comercio de las Americas
(ALCA).
5) Definir el logo de CLAS.
