[OPIRG-EVENTS] re: Black History Month on the radio

WHAT: The story of Richard Pierpont, African slave,
British soldier and Canadian settler, as told by local
history buff Sean Flynn Foyn, founder of the Woodson
Made Us Do It presentation series.

WHERE: On your friendly neighbourhood radio station,
CHUO, on 89.1 FM
WHEN: 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2001
WHY: Part of the on-going celebration of Black
History Month in Ottawa

Tune in to Demockery's Demize to hear the fascinating
story of Richard Pierpont, originally from what is now
Senegal. He was sold as a slave at age 16 in the
mid-1700s, brought to America where he eventually
fought in the Revolution for the British forces on
promise of freedom. He later settled in Ontario, and
took up arms again when the Americans invaded Canada
in 1812.

Hope you can make it,
gyl
