SAMPLE LETTER TO E_MAIL/FAX (use your own words if you have time)

February 27, 2001

Councillor (Your Councillor)
City of Ottawa
110 Laurier Avenue West
Ottawa, ON K1P 1J1

Dear  (fill in Your Councillor);

My health and the health of our community is vitally important and
when it comes to pesticides and toxic substances issues they should
remain first and foremost a human health issue. Thus, the Health,
Recreation and Social Services Committee (HRSSC) of the City of
Ottawa should retain responsibility for pesticides and toxic
substances issues. Furthermore, our Medical Officer of Health should
keep the lead role with regard to pesticides used in urban areas.

As such, I urge you, as my representative on Ottawa City Council, to
keep pesticide issues with the Health, Recreation and Social Services
Committee (HRSSC) and not to support the transfer of responsibilities
for pesticides as requested to City Council by the Environmental
Services Committee's amendments to their Terms of Reference (see ESC
Report 1).

I look forward to hearing from you or your office on the outcome of
this decision by Ottawa City Council following your City Council
meeting on Wednesday February 28, 2001.

Sincerely,
