* ALBERTO ACHITO is an indigenous leader of the Embera People of Colombia.
He
is here to denounce the Urrà Hydro Mega-Dam project.
* SARA IMILMAQUI, and RODRIGO GARRENTON from the Action Group for the Biobio
River, are opposing 6 dams that will flood 3,400 hectares of land.
* CANADIAN GOVERNMENT INVOLVEMENT:
1) Canada, through the Export Development Corporation (EDC) contributed a
loan of $23 million towards the Urrà Dam.
2) The EDC is also supplying a Canadian company with $ 17 million US to help
build the Ralco Dam in Chile.
