The Ottawa Premiere of JOURNEY TO LITTLE ROCK

Released in May of 2001, Journey To Little Rock: The Untold Story Of
Minnijean Brown Trickey is a 1-hour documentary that has already
become a success on the festival circuit!

Produced by Ottawa Filmmakers, Journey To Little Rock had its
world premiere at Canada's own Hot Docs International Documentary
Festival in Toronto last month and has been accepted into festivals
and screenings in Vancouver, Washington and New York.

This documentary tells the story of Minnijean Brown Trickey, a unique
woman.

At sixteen, she was one of the Little Rock Nine --- the nine black
teenagers in Arkansas who defied death threats, the National Guard and the
Governor to attend an all-white high school in 1957.

At twenty-two, she was active in the non-violence movement for civil
rights and for peace. She met and married a fellow student activist
and later moved to Canada.

At twenty-eight, she moved to Northern Ontario where she learned to
raise animals, farmed the land by hand, and gave birth at home to five
of her six children.

At forty-seven, she was supporting Native peoples' fight for their
rights, protesting to save the environment, and working towards
equality for all.

At fifty-eight, she received the Congressional Gold Medal from President
Bill Clinton.

This documentary features the music of Sarah Vaughan, Bruce Cockburn
and SIFA; it contains rarely seen archival footage; exclusive footage
of the Little Rock Nine at the 1997 commemoration of the 40th anniversary.
