[OPIRG-EVENTS] Ploughshares Ottawa Event
Please include the following announcement for an event to be held next
Monday, August 6, 2001.
"Ploughshares Ottawa will observe the 56th anniversary of the atomic
bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945 with a "lanterns for
peace" ceremony on Monday, August 6, starting at the Friends Meeting
House, 91 1/2 Fourth Avenue, Ottawa at 7:00 p.m.
Speakers will include the Rev. Dan Bogart-O'Byrne, pastor of the United
Church in Metcalfe, Ont., and Robin Collins from the Canadian Network
for the Abolition of Nuclear Weapons. At 8:30 p.m., the group will go
to the pond at Third Avenue adjacent to the Rideau Canal to light the
lanterns."
